About Us
🏳️🌈 In 1989, Out and About emerged within the LGBTQ+ community, offering an alternative to bars and clubs. We started with monthly outings but found our passion in hiking. Today, every Sunday, we hit the hills, catering to all paces and ending the day with a friendly pub meet-up.
🏞️ Our hikes regularly explore stunning areas such as the Wicklow Mountains, the Cooleys and the Mournes. No ropes or special gear needed -just your love for the great outdoors!
🌄 We spice things up with summer evening hikes and thrilling weekend getaways for members, challenging you to explore new terrains and make lifelong memories.
🌍The environment and access to the uploads is fundamental to our activity - we facilitate and encourage car pooling, organise an annual litter pick up and adhere to Leave No Trace principles.
🌟 We're more than hiking—we're a vibrant community celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride, marking anniversaries, hosting social events, and offering training to our leaders.

Out and About is proudly affiliated with Mountaineering Ireland. Membership confers benefits running to discounts at hiking shops, insurance and up-to-date information on environmental and management issues concerning the mountains and hills we use each week.
